On behalf of the people of Nth Queensland and particularly Julia Creek I wish to thank you for your contribution to our recent Calf Pellet trip. It was very humbling to think that you entrusted us to do this on your behalf and we consider you to be very much part of our endeavour.
The people up there were overwhelmed by our effort and I think that we did a great deal for their morale at this terrible time. The stock losses are enormous and therefore their income will be curtailed for some years with interest piling up on the bank accounts with little relief.
The trip was a great but sobering adventure for the Father and the Son although the choices of music did tend to be a problem. We clocked up just under 4100 Klms and other than the air conditioner all went very well. We fixed that in Julia Creek for the return trip, big improvement. We were able to take some time to visit the Qantas Founders Museum at Longreach and also attend Aunt Mary's funeral in Bourke on the way home. Thank you all for a great trip.
The total amount contributed so far is $34,405. Our costs are $18,000 for the pellets and $3,695 for fuel, leaving $12,710 to be allocated. We will be working with the Lions Club of Julia Creek to distribute these funds.
A special Thank you has to be made to M C Croker and Company. Together with their Conqueror Mills in Cootamundra they provided overnight and at cost price the load of pellets, Alistair and the staff at Cootamundra were terrific. Thanks also to Allan Shearer who lent us his rear trailer and Ron Crouch Transport who lent us the lead trailer..
We are endeavouring to send receipts to you but struggling to find addresses for all. Could you please help where possible.
Thank you once again,
Simon and Euge Moloney
